DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 27 at 2:00 PM\, Illinois Humanities speaker Jamie Poorman\nwill present her program about the orphan train experience in the Midwest.\nFor 75 years\, orphaned children from the East Coast of the United States\nwere sent by train to the Midwest in anticipation of adoption by community\nmembers at train stop events. Learn about this social issue of the early\n1900s and hear about some of the results. Big Rock Library and Historical\nSociety is located at 48w447 Hinckley Road in Big Rock. You are also\nwelcome to a sneak preview of the replica one-room schoolhouse\, which is\nalso located on the Big Rock Historical Society property complex.
