Big Rock Library sells annual library cards because we are not a tax-supported library like public libraries. The Big Rock Historical Association is our governing body so we are considered a “special” library. We are a member of the RAILS library consortium.
The cost of a card is very reasonable. To obtain a library card, bring identification with payment as cash or a check payable to Big Rock Historical Society. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for further details.

Museum Adventure Passes
Your library card is good for admission or special discounts at participating Chicago area cultural destinations. Use your library card to obtain one pass a week per household.
Interlibrary loan
Big Rock Library does not qualify for reciprocal borrowing where a user is able to present their card at a neighboring library and directly check out those materials. We offer interlibrary loan meaning a user can borrow materials from other libraries but going through us rather than direct checkout.
Used Book Sales
Book sales occur several times a year which are listed in the calendar of events and the current newsletter.
Museum displays
The visitor will find a variety of Natural History and Native American displays in the upper floor of the library.
Technology
The library has a copier/printer. Black and white copies are 10 cents a page and color are 35 cents at page. There is computer access with Internet and WiFi for patrons.
